Festool’s smallest router to date is one of the coolest tools to make a debut in the crafts world! Released just this spring along two other new items—the OF 2200 Plunge Router and the MFT/3 Workbench—the multi-purpose MFK 700 Modular Router is heavy on all the features that a skilled craftsman needs for an extensive range of routing applications.

The cost-saving modular design, which is further enhanced by the tool-less base system, allows you to change the router base speedily and even attach and remove all of the router’s components for a variety of uses just with the use of the locking knob and without the need for another power tool. Equipped with two large bases, one for horizontal and one for vertical routing, the MFK 700 has unmatched stability. It also has an added handgrip for a more optimally controlled use.

The 1.5 degree offset horizontal base is furnished with a sensor-bearing guide below the router bit that takes away the need for a roller while also helping to prolong the bit’s life. It also facilitates steadying the cut to a greater extent by allowing you to see the bearing right below the bit and not at the tip of it like in most other routers. The 1.5 degree inclination eases safe routing of edge banding without the extra finish work. The base plate material guarantees a scratch-free work surface and the V-shaped cut of the base and the sensor-bearing guide allows for accurate flush cutting around corners.

A 720-watt motor with a 10,000 to 26,000 rpm bit-spinning power, ¼” single wrench collet supplied with a locking button on the router’s body, and 1/10 millimeter (1/256”) micro adjustments to the depth of cut give you perfectly satisfying results each time. The tool comes with an optional Parallel Edge Guide, also with fine adjustment, that produces great results when connecting rabet joints or making panels or grooves to the edge of the material.
